How do I disable wireless printing services on my personal/dorm area printer?

Last Updated: Mar 20, 2018 04:26PM EDT

Problem

Disable wireless SSID broadcast on printer

Solution

Some desktop printers offer wireless services that may interfere with W&J’s campus wireless networks.  Using wireless printing in a dorm area is a violation of the Terms of Service Agreement.
ITS will require you to turn off the SSID broadcast to protect campus wireless signals in your dormitory.

There are two areas on the printer setup menu that must be disabled:
  1. WIRELESS RADIO
    1. HP printer Ex:  Setup, Network Setup, Wireless Settings, Select OFF
  2. WIFI DIRECT PRINT
    1. HP printer Ex: HP Wireless Direct (icon), Select OFF

NOTE:
Refer to manufacturer specific web site for various printer models.
Ex:  https://support.hp.com/us-en/products/printers or https://epson.com/printers or www.usa.canon.com or www.office.xerox.com
